Sustainability at Ascent starts with the product itself, not with claims. We build a system that uses less material, travels lighter and lasts longer — and where our footprint remains, we tell you exactly what we do about it and what we don’t claim.

Built to be refilled

Your aluminum case is made to last a lifetime and to be refilled endlessly, so the most wasteful part of traditional perfume — the disposable bottle — is removed from the loop entirely. Each 20 ml refill contains the same amount of perfume oil as a traditional 100 ml eau de toilette, while using less than 1 gram of plastic: up to 98% less plastic per equivalent fragrance use. Refills fit through your letterbox and travel with the regular mail, shipped from warehouses in the Netherlands and France, close to most of our customers.

What’s inside

Every Ascent scent is vegan and free of microplastics, crafted with an organic ethanol base and created with master perfumers in Grasse. Investing in what actually touches your skin — instead of disposable packaging — is the founding idea of Ascent, and it’s as true for our ingredients as for our cases.

Made together

Sustainability is social, too. Our Discovery Sets are assembled in partnership with Rotterdam Inclusief, a social workplace in our home city that creates meaningful jobs for people with a distance to the labour market. Keeping assembly local and inclusive means shorter transport lines and spend that works in our own community.

Reduce first. Contribute on top.

Making, filling and shipping fragrance causes emissions. We reduce ours at the source: lightweight refills, letterbox delivery, local fulfilment and assembly — and every Ascent box is made from 100% recycled paper. On top of that, we fund climate and nature projects. Funding projects elsewhere doesn't make our products carbon neutral, and we won't claim it does — but we will show you exactly what we've contributed.

What these contributions are — and aren’t

These projects sit outside our own supply chain. They protect and restore forests; they do not reduce the emissions of making or shipping your order, and we don’t count them that way. Reducing our own footprint comes first — these contributions come on top.
