Most people land on the same explanation: my skin just eats perfume. Some of that is true. Most of it isn't. The bigger reason is what's in the bottle, and once you know how it works, you can fix it.

1. Das meiste, was Sie sprühen, ist Alkohol
Jedes Parfüm ist eine Mischung aus Parfümöl und einem Trägerstoff, in der Regel Alkohol. Der Name auf dem Flakon gibt das Verhältnis an. Ein Eau de Toilette enthält typischerweise etwa 5–15 % Parfümöl. Ein Eau de Parfum, die im Handel am häufigsten anzutreffende Konzentration, liegt bei etwa 15–20 %.
Anders ausgedrückt: In den meisten Flakons sind vier von fünf Tropfen Alkohol. Er sorgt dafür, dass der erste Sprühstoß hell und frisch wirkt, verfliegt dann aber innerhalb weniger Minuten und nimmt die leichtesten Noten mit sich. Der Duft, den Sie im Laden wahrgenommen haben, bestand größtenteils aus diesen ersten fünfzehn Minuten.
Wenn ein Duft also bis zum Mittagessen verflogen ist, ist das meist kein Mangel. Er tut genau das, wofür er entwickelt wurde.
2. Longevity is mostly a question of oil
Perfume oil evaporates slowly. Alcohol evaporates fast. So the more oil in each spray, the longer there's something left on your skin to smell, and the more of the deeper notes survive into the afternoon.

3. The part that really is your skin
Skin does play a role, just a smaller one than people think. Fragrance holds on to moisture and oil, so dry skin lets it go faster. Three small habits help, whatever you wear:
Spray after a shower
On moisturised skin. An unscented lotion gives the perfume something to cling to.
Aim for warm spots
Neck, inner wrists, inside of the elbows. Warmth lifts the scent gradually through the day.
Don't rub your wrists
It heats and breaks up the top notes, so the opening burns off faster. Spray, and leave it.
These help. But no technique turns an eau de toilette into an all-day scent. There simply isn't enough oil to work with.
4. „Aber ich kann es an mir selbst immer noch nicht riechen“
Hier ist der Teil, den fast niemand erfährt. Ihr Gehirn blendet Gerüche aus, die sich nicht verändern. Nach zwanzig oder dreißig Minuten mit demselben Duft nimmt Ihre Nase ihn nicht mehr wahr. Forscher nennen dies olfaktorische Adaptation; die meisten Menschen nennen es Geruchsblindheit.
